Transwaste Recycling find a winning formula!
19-10-2015
Transwaste Recycling & Aggregates Ltd., have recently purchased their second Macpresse baling press, a Mac 111L/1, from RCP SA of Willenhall, West Midlands. Impressed with the performance and reliability of their first Macpresse machine - installed three years ago - the company only considered Macpresse when it came to choosing a second machine. As the old saying goes, “when you find a winning formula stick with it,” which is exactly what Transwaste did to ensure success, as they are one of the most thriving recycling and aggregate companies in the U.K.
Transwaste Recycling & Aggregates Ltd., opened their first MRF in Hessle, East Yorkshire in May 2003. Since then the company has grown dramatically and now operates two facilities and handles 500,000 tonnes of waste per year, employs 88 members of staff and keeps a fleet of transfer Lorries mobile. The company boast’s ISO 9001, 14001 and 18001 as well as achieving such accolades of being the fastest growing company in Yorkshire during 2013, and coming 60th nationally in the Sunday Times Fast Track 100
.Investing heavily in the recycling side of the business, the company now diverts approximately 94% of all the waste it handles away from Landfill. Commodities such as soil, brick, concrete, wood, green waste, cardboard, plasterboard and plastics are segregated for recycling, whilst an SRF and RDF are reprocessed for the use in cement kilns and waste to energy plants, so saving the use of fossil fuels.
Their first Macpresse baling press was purchased in 2012 to produce bales of Refuse Derived Fuel (RDF). This has been subsequently used to also bale cardboard and plastic. Such has been the success of this particular item of machinery; a second machine of identical specification has been purchased and is now used for the production of Solid Recovered Fuel (SRF).
Bales produced by both models are approximately 1.1m x 1.1m x 1.4m in size where each bale weighs between 0.9 – 1.3 tonnes depending on loose feed density and material consistency. The bales are wrapped using a polythene film as to ensure that no leakage occurs and mitigates against any environmental impact. Approximately 35 tonnes of material can be baled in one hour, depending on material. Transwaste now produce over 150k tonnes annually of SRF and RDF, all of which is fed through the Macpresse balers. Nearly all of this material is exported for waste to energy and the countries that have been supplied so far include Denmark, Portugal, Holland, Germany, Latvia, Sweden, Greece and Bulgaria.
