A new Macpresse 108/1SP (special) baling press has recently been installed at Armstrong Environmental Services, one of the North West’s largest privately owned companies, to bale Refuse Derived Fuel and Solid Recovered Fuel. This new baling press will enable Armstrong Environmental to bale any recycling residue as fuel, providing an environmental alternative to landfill. The recycling residue presently costs more to dispose of at a landfill site than the cost of paying an incineration plant to burn it for energy, increasing profit margins for Armstrong Environmental. The 26 acre site at Horwich, Bolton encompasses all of their wood recycling operations, their licensed waste transfer station, skip hire business, metal and aggregate recycling facilities.
