The Vitocal range is highly comprehensive, giving a large number of possible configurations. There are options available for air-source, ground-source, water-source and exhaust heat-source pumps. The Viessmann systems offer the option of reversing the system, giving the ability to cool in the summer. Some heat pump control units also have a ‘natural cooling’ function utilising the naturally cooler temperatures of the ground or groundwater in the summer to cool the building. This cooling mode can give very high efficiencies because the only energy input is that required by the circulating pump.
