LIDL Location Weston-Super-Mare, Somerset, UK - 1998 Main contractor HBG Works undertaken The original specification for pavement construction in external parking areas was amended to allow for subsoil stabilisation to be used to treat suitable available soils to depths of 250mm and 350mm, to a specification equivalent to a capping material (i.e. with a 15% soaked CBR value, and frost resistance where appropriate, where the stabilised soils lay within the frost heave layer). Approximately 5600m3 of primarily clay, with some silty sand deposits, were treated in lieu of offsite removal of surplus spoil, and to replace imported capping material. The works were carried out over a period of 2 weeks, in April 1998. NHS Location City General Hospital, Stoke on Trent - 2006 Main contractor Laing O’Rourke Midlands Limited Works undertaken Approximately 7000m3 of treatment of unsuitable material, to decrease the moisture content and produce a modified fill material. Location Alnwick, Northumberland - 2006 Main contractor Mansell Construction Services Limited Works undertaken Approximately 6600m3 of treatment of unsuitable material, to decrease the moisture content and produce an engineered foundation fill material (5% CBR). Coca Cola Location Lisburn, County Antrim - 2006 Main contractor P J Careys PLC Works undertaken Approximately 150,000m3 of treatment to engineer subsoils to increase allowable bearing pressures to 150kN/m2 (building footprint) and 80kN/m2 (external areas); and 100,000m2 of soil treatment, along with HEIC (High Energy Impact Compaction), to produce a stabilised capping material (15% CBR). Location Ashford, Kent - 2006 Main contractor Bluehammer Limited Works undertaken Approximately 1000m3 of engineered foundation fill (5% CBR), 1000m3 to provide an allowable bearing pressure of 15kN/m2 (Structural foundation fill) and 5000m2 of capping (15% CBR). Location Leeds Valley Park, Leeds - 2005 Main contractor Bowmer and Kirkland Limited Works undertaken Approximately 15,500m3 of capping (15% CBR). NHS Location City General Hospital, Stoke on Trent - 2006 Main contractor Laing O’Rourke Midlands Limited Works undertaken Approximately 12,500m3 of treatment to achieve an engineered foundation fill specification (5% CBR).
