“It’s in my blood”

With 20+ years of wide ranging experience in agriculture, Adam Clayton set up Farm Linc in 2009 after seeing a need for experienced seasonal and temporary staff to help during busy periods.

Covering the county of Lincolnshire and beyond, Farm Linc now offers a range of agricultural services from farm labour and machine operators to fencing, hedge and tree planting, grain store cleaning and potato box repairs.

Farming is in my blood. Growing up, my school holidays, weekends, evenings and any spare minute was spent out helping on the small family farm I grew up on in South Lincolnshire. I was actively involved in all aspects of growing a wide range of arable and vegetable crops with my father.

After completing a National Diploma in Arable Mechanisation and an NVQ level 3 in crop management at the local agricultural college, I had the opportunity of a lifetime to travel and worked with a custom harvesting team in the USA for 8 months.

Following a significant amount of research and planning, I took the family farm in a new direction and started to grow a wide range of organic vegetable and salad crops. These were then sold at farmers markets in London, a door to door delivery “box scheme” and sales to shops, and wholesalers.

However, due to a number of factors beyond our control, we were unable to continue, closing the business and eventually moving away from the family farm.

I continued in the industry working for other farms around the county on a self-employed basis as a tractor driver and labourer to gain further experience, which led to a great insight into the issues that face a range of farms as well as their needs and what could be improved.

My ambition and desire to grow and develop a business meant that these areas presented themselves as an opportunity. The largest of which is the huge demand for short-term, but skilled labour.

I took on a GLA license in 2009 and created Farm Linc, I began employing other staff and sending them out onto farms as temporary and seasonal help with the aim of becoming the “go-to” company in Lincolnshire for short term agricultural staff.

With extensive experience on a range of farms, a number of other opportunities became apparent which has led to the growth of the company and the services it offers.

I thrive on a new challenge and Farm Linc is just that, every day is a new challenge, every job is different, every customer is different and we love to get new enquiries for things we may not have tackled before as well as our regular services.

Customer satisfaction is 100% my top priority, reputations are hard earned and we have worked hard for Farm Linc’s.

With very high attention to detail and some would say a touch of OCD, the standards of our work are among the best there is.

If you have an existing need or indeed a new challenge we could get our teeth into we would love to hear from you to discuss things further.
