CELTIC’S “POT ON TRACKS” DELIVERS ON WOOD WHARF PROJECT

At the start of December 2015, Celtic were contacted by Commercial Marine & Piling (CMP) who were working on the Wood Wharf site in London. The site is being prepared for the residential development of 35 high rise towers, providing >35,000 new homes on land adjacent to Canary Wharf. CMP were the contractor involved in the installation of a new sheet pile wall within the existing dock, which was then dewatered to provide additional space for the development. Once CMP had dewatered the reclaimed land and started installing a suitable settling working platform the underlying silt began to swell upwards producing blisters of material at the surface. Celtic’s engineering department were quick to respond and rapidly conducted all necessary engineering works and checks so that the in-situ stabilisation system as described above, could be mobilised to site. The on-site team working within the area of the new dock wall some 5m below surrounding water levels, ensured the works were completed well within the allotted time. This project illustrates Celtic’s ability to respond to an emergency request and provide a technically innovative solution for this unique problem, stabilising 2000m3 of material in 17 days.
