Suction is made by a radial blower, attracting leaves to a specially perforated hollow roller. The roller rotates in a counter direction to a second, smaller, solid cylinder, with leaves drawn between the rollers and plucked from the vines. A fixed air gap between the rollers makes sure that no pressure is applied, eliminating wear to the rollers. The entire leaf will be removed and grapes remain undamaged in the fruiting zone, with the results comparable to leaf removal by hand.
