In fact, The Lancaster London was voted Best UK Hotel (meeting category) for four years in succession. ***The Challenge:*** - To promote its environmental ethos of ‘walking softly on the planet’, the group wanted to achieve zero waste to landfill by 2013 and to reduce its carbon emissions. ***The Solution:*** - Veolia worked in partnership with all three properties to help them achieve their objectives, creating ‘green teams’ to implement new recycling initiatives. ***The Result:*** - Although 2012 was a particularly challenging year for the group owing to the Jubilee, the Royal Wedding and the Olympic games, Veolia still maintained service levels in excess of 99%. - Recycling levels have soared from 30% to over 80% following the implementation of Veolia’s segregated waste stream approach. To date, the group has made costs savings of over £1,000 a month, despite rising operational and treatment costs. All residual waste collections now go to the Energy Recovery Facility at Southwark, creating a landfill free environment for the group of hotels. - In recognition of its environmental achievements, the Lancaster London recently won a Gold Star award, Green Hotel of the Year and the Procurement Director won Green Champion of the Year. At the same time the hotel gave Veolia the accolade of Large Supplier of the Year in recognition of our contribution to helping them realise their environmental goals.
