BREEAM Acoustic Credits
We are able to assist in obtaining BREEAM building credits available for Hea 13 and Pol 8. BREEAM was set up by the Building Research Establishment to assist developers in achieving higher environmental standards. Pol 8 - It has to be demonstrated at the design stage that any building services will not give rise to any complaints from any nearby noise sensitive areas in order for the building credit for Pol 8 to be awarded. Hea 13 -Hea 13 building credit is split down into two stages, the design stage and the post-construction phase. It has to be demonstrated at the design stage that the indoor ambient noise levels, and levels of sound insulation between acoustically sensitive rooms meet basic working standards. The building facade will be assessed so that requirements will be met. In addition to this, any noise from building services will also be assessed, and ensure that any external noise sources will be suitably attenuated to ensure that the correct indoor ambient noise level. Mitigation measures will be recommended where necessary. The findings of this assessment exercise will be detailed in a full technical report suitable for submission as part of the BREEAM assessment. On completion of the project, a schedule of acoustic testing has to be undertaken to demonstrate that the design criteria specified in the BREEAM Assessors Manual 2008 is met. The results of the acoustic assessment will be detailed in a report, with recommendations should remedial work be required to ensure that the requirements of Hea 13 not be met. Achieving the more ambitious levels of the BREEAM methodology requires a lot of consideration and planning. Early consideration improves the potential of including sustainability measures in a cost effective way.Visit the Impact Acoustics website for more information on BREEAM Acoustic Credits
